The Joy of the Mediabridge HDMI Cable
HDMI cables can be a bit expensive. It can rankle just a bit knowing that you’ve dropped a bill on a cable that you will most likely never see after you install it. That is as long as it will work. If it doesn’t work, or last, then that’s even worse. Mediabridge offers an alternative to this by producing a good quality HDMI cable at a very modest cost. Let’s have a look at the Mediabridge HDMI cable and the company its self. Mediabridge Products, LLC is actually a division of Broadband Products, Inc, which was established in 1998. BPI was a provider of commercial and industrial hardware (connectivity products) until 2008 when they formed Media Bridge to take advantage of the retail market. Mediabridge was not formed to jump on the bandwagon associated with High Definition but instead to serve in the private sector in the same way it did in the industrial broadband sector. The company was formed on the premise that they could do it better (and cheaper) than anyone else. They seem to be aggressively pursuing that credo with their Mediabridge HDMI cables. Mediabridge HDMI cables all have gold plated and shielded connectors. Gold is an excellent conductor of digital signal so this is a good choice. Having the connector shielded ensures that there is a lot less signal interference and degradation. Generally speaking with cables, the possible points of failure usually start at the connections, so looking for the best connector is definitely where one starts- Mediabridge got that one right. Also a fully shielded heavy duty 28 gauge cable helps with both longevity and signal transportation. In other words, better cable means a better picture. To help keep the cable safe Mediabridge HDMI cables come with a soft PVC jacket. PVC is tough and not likely to get burned when being pulled up against other cables or frayed when installed around a corner. Soft means flexible, you wouldn’t install conduit behind your television set or PC, you need a cable that is supple. Mediabridge HDMI cables support all new HDMI features. This means that you can have 3D technology, 1440p and 1080p (full HD) resolution without having to buy new cables. The cables even support Dolby True HD and DTS-HD Master Audio TM. Again, for the consumer, this is pretty forward looking thinking. Even if you do not have all these extras, getting them won’t mean an extra investment in new cables, which can often be expensive. How much to Mediabridge HDMI cables cost? Comparatively, they are inexpensive. Expect to pay 60% less, possibly even more off the average cost of cables of this caliber. A lot of this has to do with buying directly from the manufacturer instead of several different companies having a hand in one cable. Mediabridge makes their own cable, with their level of expertise, it’s cheaper to do so. Do I recommend you try Mediabridge HDMI cables? Generally speaking I try never to directly recommend any product, but with an average cost of $9-$20 per cable anywhere on the internet? I find it hard not to. |
